Our Scholarship Programme is a core initiative designed to expand access to education for young people in Northern Uganda through the power of sport. As a community-based organization, Nyero Foundation uses football as a pathway to identify, support, and nurture talented and deserving children, ensuring they are empowered both academically and socially.
The programme provides both merit-based and need-based scholarships to children and students across Northern Uganda, with a strong focus on promoting education, discipline, and personal development through sport.
The scholarships support beneficiaries across different levels of education, including primary, secondary, and institutional or vocational training, ensuring continuity in learning and skills development.
The Merit-Based Scholarships
Merit-based scholarships are awarded to children who demonstrate exceptional talent and potential in sports, particularly football. These scholarships aim to nurture young athletes by providing them with access to quality education while allowing them to continue developing their sporting abilities. Through this support, beneficiaries are given the opportunity to balance academic excellence and athletic growth, positioning them for future opportunities in both fields.
Need-based scholarships are designed for children from underprivileged backgrounds who may lack access to education due to financial constraints. These beneficiaries are selected based on: Demonstrated academic potential, Strong discipline and character, Commitment to both education and personal growth
This ensures that vulnerable children are given a fair chance to pursue their education and build a better future.
Nyero Foundation works closely with partner schools to place scholarship beneficiaries in supportive learning environments. Beyond tuition support, the foundation provides a comprehensive package of care to ensure the well-being and success of each child.
This support includes: Provision of scholastic materials(books, uniforms, and essential supplies), Medical support to ensure the health and well-being of beneficiaries, Continuous mentorship and guidance, Regular follow-ups on academic progress and discipline, Close monitoring of well-being beyond school, especially for need-based beneficiaries.
This holistic approach ensures that students are supported both in school and in their personal environments, enabling them to thrive academically and socially while growing into empowered, educated, and disciplined individuals capable of contributing positively to their communities and the country at large.
