Nyero began playing football at a very young age and went on to represent his schools, district, region, university, and the nation in the Under-17 National Competition. Like many of his peers growing up in the war-ravaged North, he experienced the harsh realities of poverty. These challenges prevented many talented young people from pursuing their dreams, forcing them to drop out of school and abandon their athletic potential.
Motivated by his own journey of resilience and determination, Nyero felt a strong calling to help other young talents pursue their dreams, both on and off the pitch. He founded the Nyero Foundation to support talent development and provide access to education for underprivileged youth.
The Foundation is led by a dedicated board of individuals who share the same vision and passion for nurturing sports talent and promoting access to Education for among underprivileged children and youths. By working with children, youth, girls, and persons with disabilities, we strive to build a society where everyone is seen, supported, and empowered.
Northern Uganda is still recovering from a devastating 20-year conflict that severely hindered the development of sports and education. The war left deep scars, both physical and emotional, on many individuals. Some lost limbs, facial features such as noses, ears, and lips, while countless others suffer from long-term trauma. The conflict also led to a high number of street children, who continue to face marginalization and neglect.
At Nyero Foundation, we use sports and education as powerful tools for healing and restoring hope. Through our programs, we engage youth in meaningful activities that build confidence, foster unity, and provide a positive alternative to harmful social behaviors such as drug abuse, burglary, and prostitution. Our goal is to create opportunities and inspire a brighter, more promising future for the young people of Northern Uganda.
Our Vision is to shape the future of Education and Sports in Northern Uganda by offering platforms for Inclusion in games and encouraging talented sports people to carry on with education as they develop their talent.
Through our support and programs, we envision an inclusive environment with a generation of Educated, Skilled and talented individuals leading the way towards a brighter future for all.
