At the heart of Nyero Foundation’s mission is the belief that every girl and woman deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, confidence, and purpose. In our latest initiative, we are proud to champion menstrual health among school-going girls in Northern Uganda — a critical step in keeping girls in school and enabling them to pursue their dreams. In partnership with Miss Emily Ayen of Manyatta Women Empowerment, Nyero Foundation is distributing reusable sanitary pads to girls, ensuring that menstrual health is no longer a barrier to education. This support not only addresses a vital health need but also helps restore confidence and prevent absenteeism from school.
We have equipped the girls with essential soft skills such as: Baking Knitting Tailoring Financial literacy These skills are not just hobbies — they are tools for independence, creativity, and economic empowerment. We've also provided counseling and life skills training, guiding adolescent girls through the challenges of youth. Through open conversations and mentorship, the girls are encouraged to abstain from early sexual activity, stay focused on their education, and build a strong foundation for a bright future. Uplifting Mothers, Uplifting Communities We recognize the vital role mothers play in supporting their children’s education and well-being. That’s why Nyero Foundation has extended its support to women — particularly the mothers of children in the Kumalo Kids League. Through our empowerment programs, women are trained in: Tailoring Baking Poultry keeping Market vending ...and more. Organized into self-help groups, these women receive start-up capital, which is returned interest-free to support a revolving fund benefiting the entire group. This model promotes sustainability, accountability, and shared growth.
